Sorry for not posting in a while. Things have been really hectic in my personal and work life so I haven't been able to put as much into newsrdr as I'd like. However, I do have a few bits of good news:
- Apparently Google Reader now links to a list of alternatives. I've gone ahead and added newsrdr there, and as a result have gotten a few more users. (Thanks guys!)
- The server has gotten more stable. I've fixed a bug on the AWS side that resulted in occasional disconnects from the database (and thus some nasty, unfriendly errors on the user side). So far, the AWS instances that comprise newsrdr have been up for almost two weeks without going down.
- The speed increases from the big database schema change I made are still holding strong. Day to day use of newsrdr is pretty much instant.
What's next? I think I'm going to focus more on marketing. I've heard that people have achieved good things from press releases, and I'm considering going that route. What do you like about newsrdr vs. other sites?
